Hi,
I was wondering whether any others have had the same experience as I have had. A couple of times I have missed my weekly dose of MXT for various reasons and each time after a few days my joints become easier and more mobile. The first time I thought it was just a one off but it keeps happening. I have been taking 15mg of MXT for almost two years so I know it is still in my system but the easing of my joints without it surprises me. I have not increased any other drugs to compensate it is very strange.
I would be intersted if anyone else has experienced this or am I the only strange one.

Hi Jayne,

I haven't experienced this when I've missed taking mtx but it does sound similar to what is happening to Jean B!

Hi Chrissie

I know, but I'm a real scaredy cat when it comes to meds.! Sometimes I feel quite rebellious but ... I'm a good girl at heart and always do what the doctor says, even though I don't always believe him RollEyes

i think as well, you have to bear in mind the reason you stopped taking the MTX.

if it is post infection your body is often too busy fighting the bug to bother fighting itself.

I only managed about 6 weeks without MTX last year, but then couldn't take any DMARDs due to infected hip replacement. As a consequence I'd never experienced such unrelenting, excrutiating pain in my whole 39+ year RA history! I'd previously taken MTX for 26+ years.

Hi,

Am back on the MXT again as of yesterday so will be interested to see if things change. Going to see the consultant next week so will have a word with him and see what he says.

ThumpUp I have just been to appointment with rheumy consultant, he said that as i was having Fusion (ankle) that i should not take mtx (20mg) a week prior to opp and 2wks after opp, he said that i should not start again if i have stiches in, i have had foot opps b4 the nurse said it was ok to continue with jabs, they all have their own way its a bit of a worry as you dont want a flare alongside of the opp.
Opp is still set for 15th fingers xxed.

I don't really like talking about this, because I don't want anyone to follow my bad example.

I took myself off mtx 6 weeks ago because I was fed up with feeling sick and having liver probs. Needless to say, since I came off the stuff, all the blood test results have gone back to normal, including ESR and CRP, which have NEVER been anywhere near normal for 7 years or more. I'm sure this happy state of affairs won't continue - in fact I've noticed that I am not quite as good in the mornings, am not sleeping more than 3 or 4 hours most nights and am starting to have bad shoulders, hands and wrists again. BUT I did feel better for a month or so. I guess it's back on the wretched stuff again - but I'll leave it until tomorrow and take just 10 mgs instead of 20 mgs and seehow it goes.

Love Jeanxxx
